I retired from the University of California in June of 2017 and, after living in southern California since 1983, moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be near my son and his family. In October of 2020 I found a lovely little townhouse in Saint Augustine and am happily enjoying my relaxed life-style. Have found some excellent volunteer opportunities involving environmental causes and still find great pleasure in reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with my family. I look forward to getting back into traveling as there are SO many places yet to see on this planet. My youngest daughter is currently living in the UK and I have been able to visit her multiple times. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Saint Augustine and will be thinking about those of you who won’t be able to join us wishing you all good health and peace of mind. |

After graduating from GBN I went down to the University of Illinois. Met my future husband there and surprised everyone by getting married after my sophmore year. He was ahead of me in school and took a teaching job at Maimi of Ohio and we embarked on a path of seeing who could go the farthest in school (he won). So I got my undergraduate degree at Maimi and then he got his doctorate at Ball State and we were off to Pensacola Fl where he took another teaching job at the University of West Florida - and I got free tuition (again) and started my MA in Counseling Psych.
Along the way I did volunteer work at a drug crisis line/drop in center so I decided I liked working with challanging adolescents (also probably influenced by my owm sterling adolescent behavior) so I did my internships at the juvenile justice center and after completing my degree got a job there as a juvenile probation officer. Since most of my kids landed up in a drug treatment program or needed to be in one, I figured it would be easier all the way around if I just went and worked in one. Stayed at the same agency forever, in various positions until landing up as the senior administrator af all SA programs. Left in 2006 and now do MH and SA counseling, training and consulting, part-time within a small private group practice. Sill married these 48 years later. My husband is retired but stays busy with a car collection, mostly old and British, and we belong to several car clubs. Have had a few different summer homes in the mountains of NC and did all the outdoor hiking and rafting things but now that we're getting old, like to do the antiquing and art gallery stuff. No children but have had several exotic pets, including cockatoos and macaws. Sill think I was lucky to have grown up in Northbrook and to have had such good friends. Looking forward to the next chapters in our lives! |
