Hope you all have a wonderful time in Santa Fe...it is truly unique.  I took my sisters there a few years ago - a lovely city!

Due to many things going on right now in our lives, we won't be able to join you...but we wish you all well and perhaps will see you at the 60th! We are both on LinkedIn if you'd like to connect.

Best wishes,

Cindy and Rich Hand

Lee,

Thank you for the invitation to St. Augustine - very kind.  I did fill out the rsvp form - we won’t be attending, as we have other plans with kids and grandkids, but hope you all have a great time!

GBN was the 4th school I attended during my high school years, so I didn’t know many people in the ‘67 graduating class - I worked at Carson Pirie Scott through school years and every summer, so was too busy, unfortunately, for outside activities.

With 6 kids and 5 grandchildren we are the Brady Bunch - (3 girls and 3 boys).  For a few years we had all 5 at home in middle and high school, and we have always worked full time until I retired Dec., 2018 - but Rich is still working full time as a deputy director with the federal government.

We wish everyone well… and thanks again!

Cindy Hand (née Allen)

I moved to Wisconsin in 1967, one week after HS was done. Attended Univ. of Wisconsin - Stout in Memomonie, where I earned a degree in psychology.  Got a draft number of nine, enlisted in the army and served in military police as a sergeant.  Married Nancy in 1973, best thing ever. Got a graduate degree in school psychology and counseling.  Loved working and helping others. Eventually I got bored working in schools and moved on, ending up working in management for Wisconsin in the department of transpotation (DMV).  Left Wisconsin for Florida in 2019, and we're loving the lifestyle. We are always busy - no time to get old!  My wife, Nancy is an artist, so life is interesting all the time. Kids are doing well back in Wisconsini without us, raising our three grandchildren.

After GBN, I earned a B.A. from DePauw University and then an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.  My career began in accounting and broadened into all aspects of corporate finance, culminating in CFO roles at public and private companies.  I've been happily married for 40 years to Nancy Lamond, a Wellesley graduate I met when she was pursuing her graduate degree at UofC.  My job has taken us from Chicago to Miami, Detroit, back to Miami, and finally to Charlotte, NC, where I retired and reside today.  Our two children are pursuing careers in education, one as a high school physics teacher and the other in university admissions.

After high school I headed for Arizona and eventually graduated from Northern Az University in 1973 with a BS in American History and English Lit.  I then completed a teaching certificate and taught elementary school in the Phoenix area for a few years.

In the fall of 1976 I agreed to an interview as an adult basic education teacher at the Arizona State Prison in Florence, AZ.  I wasn't interested in the job but since they agreed to give me a tour of the prison, why not.  That didn't go as planned, I ended up retiring from the Ariz. Department of Corrections after just over 25 years.  I taught adult inmates basic education and prepared them for a GED for a few yrs and then went into inmate counseling/programs.  I worked at several prisons throughout the state, a short time as a parole officer and the DOC main office in downtown Phoenix.  When at the Alhambra Reception Center I was responsible for the intial classification and placement of all male inmates sentenced to prison in AZ.  I retired after 25 years with my hightest job being Assistant Deputy Warden.

I've maintained my interest in history and attended a lot of mountain man reenactments throughout the west over the yrs and still enjoy photography.  These days I enjoy getting out in the desert and doing a little bird and wildlife photography.  No wife or kids.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in September!
