Bob entered Kansas City Art Institue aflter graduation from GBN. The reality set in! He became the third generation to own J.J. Miller HVAC in Northbrook. There was a lot of rock climbing along the way as well! Bob retired and closed the company in 2015. He has become an active volunteer for Cook County Forest Perserves, doing work at Somme Woods and Somme Prairie in Northbrook. His latest art work is blacksmithing. Along the way, in 1987, he married Louise Ristow - and joined her in the love of travel to Switzerland, Italy, Panama, Hawaii and drives around the USA! |

Schoolwise, after GBN, I graduated from DePauw University, then University of Chicago Law School, then a one-year internship at the U.S. Court of Appeals . In 2002, I was back in school at the tender age of 53, getting a seminary degree at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. Workwise, I spent the 27 years in between as a commercial trial lawyer. My law firm (mofo.com) had 70 lawyers in one office then. In 2002, when I finally tired of auctioning off my voice to the highest bidder, we had 1000 lawyers in 17 offices worldwide. Familywise, I married the editor of my college’s student newspaper. Mary became a first-rate journalist in San Francisco and opened the San Francisco Examiner’s Tokyo bureau when Mofo posted me there to work with our Asian clients. My son Galen came along in 1977, followed by Marianne in 1985. Galen edits a national magazine from Boston and Marianne works in early childhood development in the San Francisco Bay Area. More workwise. After seminary (2002-04) came parish ministry, followed by a calling designing and delivering spiritual growth programs for large progressive churches in Portland, Oregon. I am turning in yet another direction now—teaching undergraduates writing and speaking skills along with some law-related courses. By the time I get to our reunion, I will also have completed my first tour of duty as a visiting professor at Peking University’s School of Transnational Law. I have great expectations for this consciousness-raising experience in China. Funwise, I have become a hardcore live drama junkie. (Are you out there, Salners?) |

I lived most of my life in Illinois, most recently in Barrington. I still can’t believe that was 18 years ago. I saw Sedona Arizona in the early 80’s and knew that one day I would live here. After being a rep for a company that sold competitive swimwear to swim teams in 10 states, I started selling Real Estate. When my youngest child graduated high school I made a beeline for Sedona. I have continued to sell Real Estate here in Sedona. I still pinch myself because I feel so lucky to be living here. I have traveled extensively in Europe, Africa and the United States. I have been to over 30 countries and to every state in the union. Travel is still a passion. I have had a beautiful life. I am excited about staying at La Fonda because my mother was a " Harvey Girl" there in the 1940's before I was born. See you in Santa Fe! |
